The Central Hudson Peak Perks Thermostat Program
Save Energy. Save Money.
Central Hudson customers with homes in energy constrained areas who have Central Air Conditioners can participate in Peak Perks and receive up to two FREE smart thermostats, professionally installed.
How It Works
When demand for electricity in the Hudson Valley peaks, we’ll send a wireless signal to your thermostat that will cycle your AC compressor on and off at the level you choose. Typically, these conservation events occur on weekday afternoons in the summer when electricity use is at its peak.
Get Rewarded
When you enroll in Peak Perks, you’ll receive $175 your first year ($100 Enrollment Reward + $75 Annual Reward).
It’s Easy
1. Central Hudson Peak Perks Reward

3. Wireless router connected
After installing your Central Hudson Peak Perks thermostat(s), our technician will connect the thermostat to your home’s secure, wireless Internet network (Wi-Fi). The technician also will review with you the operation of your new thermostat and your energy manager portal.
4. Portal access from tablet or smartphone
You’ll be able to control your home heating and cooling system through your energy manager portal using your smartphone or tablet with wireless Internet access.
5. Portal access from your computer
You may enter your energy manager portal any time by logging in with your user ID and password.
6. Wireless signal sent
When demand for electricity in the Hudson Valley peaks, we’ll send a wireless signal to cycle your AC compressor on and off. Typically, these conservation events occur on weekday afternoons in the summer when electricity use is at its peak.
7. Balance area demand for electricity
During cycling, demand for energy is reduced. Less electricity needs to be generated and transmitted to your home. That keeps energy costs lower as well as reducing carbon emissions and other pollutants associated with electricity generation.
8. Maintain your routine
There’s nothing else to do. During a typical conservation event, your home temperature may rise 2 to 4 degree, while your central AC fan stays on circulating air throughout your home.
9. Your AC switches back on
When area demand for electricity is reduced to an acceptable level, your central air conditioner compressor automatically returns to your pre-set standard operation.
10. We reward you for your help
Provided you have participated in an event during the program season, after your installation, you will receive your annual reward credit of $75 per thermostat after the close of the program season and each following year you participate.
